Oracle 11.2 database

Goal

Can TIMESTAMP be used as a Interval partitioning key in Oracle 11.2 ?

Solution

Yes,  TIMESTAMP can be used as a Interval partitioning key in Oracle 11.2,  as can DATE and NUMBER.

11.1 and 11.2 documentation at the INTERVAL Clause of the CREATE TABLE statement in the SQL Language Reference does not state like so, hence a documentation bug was filed that now supports use of TIMESTAMP.

The use of  TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE or  TIMESTAMP WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE data types are not supported.
